Homeschooling Hiring for Special Education – Math and Language Arts – Elementary Level at Remote Full Time

Looking for a tutor for a 9 year old little boy recently entering the 4thgrade. He has auditory processing disorder (APD) which means that deciphering sounds causes the use of traditional phonics, etc. with teaching reading and writing to be unsuccessful; making visual and hands-on learning the best learning methods.

Although in the 4thgrade, foundational concepts in the math and language arts are still needed. The primary goal is to achieve writing and spelling getting to a place of being able write sentences, paragraphs and ultimately stories; as well as support with helping to communicate answers to questions clearly and explain answers or opinions; due to the (APD) sometimes prompts have to provided to help with communicating. There is an IEP, however, with COVID he was not receiving the adequate support. Currently, he is enrolled in Georgia Cyber Academy so we can provide hands-on support. If those interested in this opportunity are unaware of APD, that is not requirement, however, willingness and work to understand for the purpose of helping him learn and you to teach is a necessity; please note this is not the opportunity to learn about or experiment on a kid with APD.

• Require curriculum created specifically for his learning needs and learning style
• Looking for creativity including his interest in building and games
• Is encouraging and motivating to build his self esteem and confidence in learning
• Do not want simply PowerPoint teaching and lecture, but interactive teaching
• Provide supplemental materials for family to use help with reiteration and continued learning
• This is not help with homework, but providing instruction that will help with obtaining foundational skills and understanding with reading, writing and math
• With Science, we include Generation Genius in addition to school; with Social Studies we include African American History as well – this does not have to be apart of the learning support, but if that is expertise that exist and offered we can add to the curriculum upon discussion

The hours would be Monday-Thursday morning – afternoon. 25.00 – 30.00 per hour, up to 2 hours per day. This can be remote, but hope for hybrid to provide some direct in person support. The main goal is finding the right person, so schedule and format can be discussed.

We are looking for consistent long-term support to stabilize his learning support system as much as possible. This is not to be random or as available. We are in Georgia, knowledge of state education requirement is helpful.
