HomePace provides homeowners with the ability to transform the equity they’ve built in their home into cash without the burden of additional debt, interest, or monthly payments.

HomePace’s mission is to help homeowners meet their financial needs by unlocking the value of their largest asset, their home. Through our Home Equity Investment (HEI) solution, HomePace invests in a home, providing the homeowner with funds upfront. The homeowner can use these funds to pay off debt, improve their home, fund their retirement, or handle any other financial need – with no interest or monthly payments.

In exchange for receiving funds today from HomePace, the homeowner agrees to share a percentage of the home’s change in value with HomePace when he/she chooses to sell the home or buy out HomePace’s investment. Because HomePace is making an investment alongside the homeowner, as opposed to simply adding more debt, we are directly aligned in seeing the homeowner succeed and the home increase in value over time. We win when the homeowner wins.

You are:

An experienced underwriting professional or seasoned junior underwriter looking to build your career by leveraging your knowledge of residential real estate finance and loan processing in a non-traditional underwriting role. You are passionate about helping homeowners access the equity in their home, while maintaining a strong standard of risk management.

You don’t just provide decisions, but also the context that other team members need to translate your underwriting decisions back to the relevant stakeholders. You enjoy refining, improving, and innovating your day-to-day processes to achieve scale and success for your team.

Responsibilities:

• Underwrite applications for HomePace contracts, and approve or decline consumers based on HomePace underwriting and credit guidelines

• Review consumer credit profiles and documentation related to: income, assets, employment, credit history, fraud, and title

• Enhance and develop underwriting guides and materials, based on past experience with Conventional, Conforming, and Non Qualified lending standards

• Train and communicate new and changing underwriting standards to client-facing and operations teams (such as processors) in an effective and timely manner

• Drive process improvements and technology enhancements to support more scaled data collection, file management, and connectivity to third-party systems

• Help to architect programs focused on supporting underbanked, underserved, and low credit quality borrowers

Minimum experience and skills required:

• 5+ years of experience as a senior processor or underwriter at a lending institution in either the Non Qualified Mortgage or Non-Agency/Portfolio loans space

• Proven history of loan approval up to $1,000,000+

• Strong understanding of Fannie and Freddie underwriting standards

• Demonstrated ability to mentor and train others

• Exceptional attention to detail

• Strong verbal and written communication skills

Ideal candidates may also have:

• 3+ years of manual underwriting experience

• Experience underwriting Home Equity Investments (HEIs) or Value Participation Agreements (VPAs)

• Managed an underwriting or processing team, with experience providing training and performance feedback

• Experience at a high-growth company

Location: Candidates must be willing/able to commute or relocate to offices in Salt Lake City, UT; Bellevue/Seattle, WA; or Raleigh, NC. Role is currently remote but will likely transition to a hybrid structure within 6-12 months.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $80,000.00 – $100,000.00 per year
