Job Summary

The Director of Extended Day & Summer Camp Program will oversee both the after school and summer camp programs for HCES. The Director will create and manage educational and interactive activities for the after school and summer camp programs. Responsible for developing enrichment activities and recreational opportunities to maximize the effectiveness and desirability of the program. The Director must also possess knowledge of before/after school programming and the development, implementation, and coordination of programs and services that meet the needs of the whole child.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Oversee and coordinate all aspects of the extended day program (Omega).
• Develop Omega schedule – ensure proper facilitation of developmentally appropriate activities.
• Work with administration to develop the Omega behavior systems.
• Hire and train Omega counselors in the proper implementation of program systems and oversee the process.
• Establish a working relationship with parents and teachers – maintain open lines of communication.
• Contract with outside businesses/individuals and/or teachers to provide quality after school classes for HCES students.
• Design, Market and promote registration for all after school programs and summer camp.
• Evaluate the after school classes for high quality instruction, safe environments, and overall parent satisfaction.
• Develop, plan and implement summer camp program “Camp Crusader”.
• Oversee summer camp registration and payment.
• Create staff schedules – ensuring proper ratios are maintained.
• Compile and Administer the Extended Day and Summer Camp budget and ensure that programs are cost effective and that funds are managed prudently.
• Initiate purchase orders in accordance with budgetary limitations and school policies.
• Maintain a current inventory of Extended Day and Summer Camp supplies, equipment, material and snacks, and recommend disposal and replacement of equipment when necessary.
• Complete monthly payroll and submit to business office.

• Recruit, select, train, and supervise all Extended Day and Summer Camp staff and make sound recommendations about personnel placement, assignments, retention, discipline, and dismissal.
• Develop training options and/or improvement plans for employees to ensure exemplary operation in area of Extended Day and/or Summer Camp.
• Develop Summer Camp schedule – ensure proper facilitation of all activities.
• Develop and maintain student management policies, communicate expected student behavior related to after school activities, and ensure enforcement of student discipline in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
• Ensure proper care and supervision of children.

Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor’s degree from accredited college or university.
• Experience in running an after school or summer camp program may substitute for required education.
• Valid Driver’s License and Certification in CPR and AED.
• Knowledge of overall operations of an after school program.
• Knowledge of state policies governing after school programs.
• At least two years of successful administrative experience with after school programs or experience in a related field.
• Proficient in the use of the computer, organization software and other office equipment.
• Ability to compose correspondence and demonstrate strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to interpret policy, procedures, and data.
• Ability to manage budget and personnel, and coordinate schedules.
• Strong communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills.
• This position is unable to work remotely.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $35,000.00 – $38,000.00 per year
