ABOUT THE ROLE :

This senior role within the Mid-Atlantic Region Ready Mix Management Team is primarily responsible for developing the Logistics strategy and executing on the distribution of ready mixed concrete for the Mid-Atlantic region.

The Logistics Manager is responsible for the recruitment, supervision, training and development of the Logistics Department staff, and the performance of that staff to the Regions goals.

Responsibilities also include ensuring that a high level of customer service is maintained while achieving budgeted productivity and cost control.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING :

Builds and implements the plan to achieve the Distribution Cost objectives of the region. Improves productivity by analyzing all key performance indicators (KPIs), and developing and implementing strategies & tactics for improvement.

Drives performance by coaching, performance managing, counselling, mentoring and developing Logistics department employees.

Manages team to meet internal and external customer requirements.

• Coordinates emergency situations with supervisory and N-2 staff, other department heads, GM, human resources, and staff.
• Evaluates all information at hand to determine what type of actions are necessary to minimize delivery cost and satisfy the delivery need.
• Primary ownership POC for the regions implementation of electronic tools relating to logistics such as Command dispatching software, Trimble, Concrete Direct, Cisco call center phone management tools, truck radio tools, GPS, Zoom call recorder, Excel and SAP.
• Works closely with peers on the management team and GM to address all customer service related concerns.
• Leads the regions driver recruitment task force, working cross functionally to adjust recruitment targets, and is primarily responsible for filling driver vacancies across the business.
• Assists the GM in the preparation of the budget, scheduling expenditures, analysing variances and initiating corrective action.
• Ensures compliance with all Federal and local legal requirements.
• Performs other duties as required.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR :

Required Education : Bachelor’s Degree and 5 years of relevant experience, or a High School Diploma and 8 years of relevant experience

Required Work Experience : Three (3) to Five (5) Years of Supervisory Experience, with prior experience in distribution or logistics.

Ready Mix Concreteprior experience is a significant plus.

Travel Requirements : Local travel throughout Maryland, DC, and Virginia is required.

Required Computer and Software Skills : Proficiency in Google Mail, Proficiency in Microsoft Suite including PowerPoint, Excel, and Word
