Holcim US Hiring for Heavy Equipment Operator at Florence, CO Full Time

Overview:

Responsibilities:

• Ensures that safety, compliance, environmental requirements are followed at all times;
• Loads trucks, feeds bins with various aggregate materials, maintains proper quantities of material to be loaded, moves earth or material from one location to another, and performs paving/grading work;
• Keeps equipment clean and orderly; – a CLEAN work station is a SAFE work area – Holcim US seriously puts SAFETY FIRST;
• Performs daily inspections on equipment to ensure safe operation;
• Responsible for tasks that require the use of heavy mobile equipment. The associated equipment of the plant/quarry/mine are also considered equipment to be operated by Heavy Equipment Operators;
• Other duties as assigned.
• Relationship with other jobs:
  • This position will work with Operators and management. They will communicate and work together to ensure the customer’s needs are met in a safety and constructive manner.

Qualifications:

• Required Education:
  • High school diploma or GED;
  • Ability to read, write, and speak well (English);
  • Basic math skills (American system of metrics; English);
  • Valid Driver’s License.
• Experience:
  • Minimum of one (1) year of related experience ,or equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Excellent driving skills;
  • Previous mining experience, and experience operating heavy equipment, loaders, and backhoe;
  • Willing to work overtime and weekends as needed.
• Additional Strengths Preferred of Strongest Candidates:
  • Welding, cutting, and plant maintenance experience preferred;
  • Haul trucks, loaders, and various mine equipment operation experience preferred;

• Experience with customer service and equipment operation and maintenance. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear. The employee will frequently be required to walk on rocky, irregular surfaces that may be muddy and in reduced lighting conditions. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must frequently shovel for 3 minutes with an 8 lb. shovel, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to high, precarious places: fumes or airborne particles, confined space, outside weather conditions, low lighting, artificial lighting, and explosives. The employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, proximity to electrical equipment, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and occasionally loud.

• ADA Limitations:
• While performing the duties of this job the employee must be able to travel through an Aggregate plant, i.e., walk over obstacles, climb stairs and ladders, lift heavy or awkward parts, and wear personal protective equipment (hardhat, safety glasses, fall protection, respirators, etc.);
• The employee will at times be exposed to extremely hot/cold, dusty, noisy, or dark situations. At times, work will be performed at great heights or in small, confined spaces.

Estimated Wage Range: 26.31 – 33.82 Pay Type: Hourly
