About the opportunity:
This is a truly pivotal position in which you will be responsible for Holcim Australia’s finance governance and planning function – providing strategic oversight to the corporate finance function; contributing to the decision making process of the Executive Committee and ensuring all Holcim Group financial information reporting meets external statutory requirements.

As part of the Finance Leadership Team charged with maximising shareholder returns you will undertake relevant FP&A activities and value-adding analysis and interpret results; performance indicators and trends across the businesses for the purposes of improving financial performance and meeting upward reporting requirements.

You will also lead our governance and internal controls and help to create value by providing an environment which supports the efficient development of integrated financial and non-financial plans, supporting future oriented organisational outcomes, through good governance, performance management and budgeting and planning activities that provide long range outcomes.

Another important responsibility managing the service levels to the local market from the insourced Shared Services Centres based overseas.

• Demonstrating visible leadership to promote the company’s priority of enabling its employees to work in a safe environment.
• Assisting the Chief Financial Officer to meet fiduciary, compliance and governance obligations.
• Leading and overseeing the internal and external audit agenda to successful conclusion, ensuring these are appropriately resourced and stakeholders are well managed.
• Actively monitoring compliance with company policy and integrity of internal controls related to financial reporting.
• Leading continuous improvement with particular emphasis on financial processes and policies responding to and anticipating future organisational needs
• Liaising with internal and external auditors as and when required.
• Local Performance Management and Analysis development and execution.
• Monthly financial balance of year Forecast (including submissions to group as required)
• Insightful analysis of monthly results relative to forecast, budget and prior year
• Providing strategic leadership to promote personal and career development of the Corporate Finance Team members.

To be successful in this role you will need:

• Relevant tertiary business or accounting qualifications – CPA or CA
• Strong experience in Statutory, Technical and Tax Accounting
• Extensive experience leading and developing a high performing team.
• Significant experience in a senior chartered audit, assurance or technical environment
• Relevant industry experience (e.g., resources, engineering and construction) would be advantageous but not essential
• Experience in roles or projects requiring problem solving, analytical thinking, vision and leadership
• Strong negotiation and influencing skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels, and with all functions with team leadership skills
• Sound interpersonal and verbal communication skills
• Sound written communication skills – able to prepare, plan and schedule documents, proposals and reports
• Advanced computer skills – Google Drive and Excel and ideally SAP and Business Warehouse experience
