Role Overview
This role will be responsible for providing financial information, tools, analysis, and insight to the SIB management team, helping to make more informed decisions and driving business strategy. The role provides ‘real time’ support and analysis and requires the incumbent to become a trusted adviser who can add value that will assist in decision making. This role reports to the Head of FP&A.
Operating as part of the Financial Planning & Analysis department, the Business Partner will be responsible for supporting the Social Innovation Business (80%) . They will produce and analyse financial outputs (e.g., reports and accounts), incorporating a deep understanding of business drivers to support the management team to achieve and exceed overall business objectives.
The incumbent will provide financial modelling and support for new business activities, working closely with sales teams to provide commercial and financial support, making recommendations to get the best commercial deal and producing deal information including accounting determination, ensuring proposals for new work are commercially and financially sound, e.g., Advising on revenue recognition (IFRS 15) standards.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities
Develop deep and trusted relationships with senior business stakeholders
Support the Management team in creating, understanding, and evolving a holistic view of Technology investment across the group
Supporting the development and implementation of SIB’s Strategy including:
Technology sourcing and resourcing models and their implications
Review, derive, challenge, and prioritise investment cases, ensure benefits commitments are delivered.
Advise the group on best financial practices (accounting, ROI models etc) to support Agile software delivery and Product Development
Drive performance of the embedded functions through high quality analysis and decision support
Strategic cost management/mining of the embedded function, understanding and influencing key drivers, optimising value creation
Develop function plans, budgets, and forecasts, exploring scenarios and options for driving improved outcomes / performance
Predict future outcomes and identifying opportunities and threats
Understand and assess the commercial impacts of technical accounting decisions
Monitor and provide insight into macroeconomic and industry trends, considering potential short, medium- and long-term impacts on current plans
Key Skills and Experience
ACA / ACCA / CIMA (or equivalent) qualified accountant
Extensive commercial finance experience in dynamic global organisations
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to develop and sustain strong working relationships with the business and across the Finance function
Ability to influence decision-making among senior stakeholders, providing appropriate challenge
Experience of operating in a matrix structure
Experience of Agile software delivery and product development
Experience of SaaS models and Cloud Technology
Experience working with international teams preferred
Ability to synthesize large quantities of complex data into actionable information
Ability to work and effectively communicate with senior-level business partners
Excellent business judgment, analytical, and decision-making skills
Knowledge of accounting software and financial reporting and data mining tools such as SQL, Access, etc.
Strong demonstrated use of Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
