We are currently looking for a Financial Accountant (contract) to join our Finance team in Moorebank.
The focus for this role is reporting directly to the GBSCSS Finance Manager, you will be responsible for accounting within the SAP system and related duties within your assigned area of responsibility. You will work with local and international teams.

Your responsibilities

• Performs general accounting activities, applying techniques and standards to solve issues.
• Prepares journal entries, performs accounting reconciliations, and ensure accurate and timely reporting.
• Assist in reporting in compliance with applicable accounting standards, group guidelines and accounting principles
• Processes accounting transactions including receivables, payables, treasury, leases and intercompany, ensuring accurate tracking to completion.
• Executes and performs accounting analysis and reports as assigned and highlights discrepancies/anomalies for correction.
• Assist in preparation of statutory accounts and audit queries
• Participates in internal control testing and prepares relevant documentation.
• Ensures compliance with internal financial policies, procedures, controls, and system.
• Work closely with team members and assist in AP/AR/credit management

Your background

• A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Finance/Accounting
• 4+ years post qualification experience in a large complex corporate environment
• Strong SAP and Microsoft Excel skills with a good understanding of other office applications
• Excellent communication skills and a high attention to detail
• Ability to influence key stakeholders to deliver commercial outcomes
• Familiarity with SOX controls and IFRS
• Possess high level of commercial acumen (Essential)
• Natural flair for communication combined with skills in building long lasting relationships
• Experience in the power generation or mining sectors will be well regarded
