Summary
We are seeking a .Net developer with an eye for detail and a passion for crafting responsive web applications using modern standards. Do you want an employer that cares about you and the way they work? Do you want to be part of an organisation that cares and protects our shared heritage? Do you want to be part of a talented team?
Historic England is looking for a dependable and motivated .Net developer to join our agile scrum team delivering secure, dependable code which does the best possible job, on time and on budget. We love coding, optimising and problem solving and want to work with people who feel the same! In return we offer a dedicated training day every sprint, flexible hybrid working and the chance to shape the website of a major national organisation.
What you will be doing
You will be responsible for the development and support of custom software applications within Historic England, which includes our internal business systems and public facing web applications. The Software Developer will develop and support Historic England applications. You will maintain the efficient functioning of existing systems, estimate and implement changes to existing systems submitted to our business change process. You will ensure high quality, efficient, reliable code, including peer reviewing the work of other back-end developers, and take on board feedback from peer review of your work and make sure our legal obligations and policy expectations are met, including health & safety, equality & diversity, finance, procurement, information security and managing people.
You will make a contribution to a culture of continuous improvement, promoting best practice and enhancing existing systems, whilst working collaboratively within an Agile team to apply your technical skills to deliver the business`s strategy and users` needs. You will evaluate and recommend current and emerging tools and technology that Historic England could exploit, including representing Historic England on developer forums, contributing to technical design and architectural decisions and keep focused on the 4 agile principles: Value individuals and interactions over processes and tools, value working software over comprehensive documentation, value customer collaboration over contract negotiation and value responding to change over following a plan.
