Description:  

Reporting to the AVP of Human Resources, the HR Employee and Labor Relations Director performs a wide variety of duties related to employee and labor relations, including contract administration; grievance and arbitration issues; negotiation of settlements and mediation of disputes on disciplinary and contractual matters; and employee relations concerns including, but not limited to, providing definitive direction, interpretative guidance and leadership support on multiple collective bargaining agreements; preparation of investigatory documents and briefs; policy and procedure compliance; and adherence to local, state and federal laws governing employment practices.  

In this highly visible and interactive role, the Director provides managers and employees with assistance on employee and labor relations matters campus-wide, to create a supportive environment that encourages collaborative management-employee relationships; Participate in the internal employee grievance procedure and address their workplace concerns and complaints; Serve as the organization’s lead employee relations counselor; and conduct employee investigations, ensuring proper maintenance of all records and files in a systemic confidential format.
