Assistant Teacher Responsibilities

Assistant Teachers collaborate with HHA teaching faculty to provide high quality instruction and learning experiences for all students. Assistant Teachers also work with families, building relationships with all members of HHA’s community. Responsibilities of the Assistant Teachers at HHA include:

• Establish a safe, collaborative, stimulating classroom culture that is welcoming to all students, families, and members of our community.

• Plan and support the implementation of lesson plans that align with HHA’s curricular methods, standards, and approaches to literacy, math, science, social studies, and social-emotional learning.

• Promote student’s skills regarding problem solving, critical thinking, and mastery of academic standards.

• Engage students while monitoring and supervising classrooms and the HHA community, promoting positive leadership among faculty and students.

• Maintain orderly and effectively managed instructional materials and records.

• Attend professional development and practice effective instructional methods regarding curriculum, child development and guidance, and collaboration with fellow faculty and the greater HHA community.

• Engage in continuous education to gain knowledge of supplemental materials and services beneficial to students who require an extension of classroom activities.

• Be a leader in our school community, following our school’s mission and vision for future growth.

• Desire to innovate in response to student needs, be responsive to feedback, be flexible and dependable, energetic and nurturing toward children.

Located in Madison, WI, this school is an expansion of a very successful 25-year-old preschool program. Hickory Hill Academy draws strong and effective educational leaders who work as a community to drive the school’s growth and future expansion.

Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience. Medical Insurance and other benefits are included in contract. Credentials will be reviewed as they are received.
