HIA is Australia’s peak residential building industry body. The organisation operates across a diverse range of activities including a variety of commercial businesses, member servicing functions, and policy and lobbying initiatives.

We are currently seeking to appoint an Assistant Accountant to join our Finance Team located at our National Office in Campbell. This role has a strong focus on preparing timely and accurate Monthly and Annual Financial Reports.

Key responsibilities include:

• will assist with the preparation, review and analysis of monthly financial reports and the annual audit and statutory accounts
• process monthly reconciliation of a variety of balance sheet accounts
• assist with the preparation of the annual budget and reforecast
• will have involvement in taxation reporting including BAS and FBT
• will provide assistance and support to the Finance team including checking weekly payments and payroll accounting for the HIA Apprentices business
• will perform data analysis, provide commentary on information collated and provide ad-hoc reports as required.

The successful applicant will:

• be degree qualified or working towards CA/ CPA and have 1-3 years’ experience in a similar role
• have a good understanding of accounting concepts
• possess strong problem solving skills and demonstrated resourcefulness will be highly regarded
• have excellent communication, organisational and time management skills
• must have strong IT skills with experience using excel and PowerBi (or similar business intelligence tool) as well as a proven ability to learn new skills
• the position requires a high degree of flexibility with a willingness to tackle a wide variety of tasks
• a commitment to providing a high level of customer service to both internal and external stakeholders.
