GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Henderson Fabrication is a small growing company located in Bay City, Texas. This role of Steel Laydown Yard Supervisor is tasked with overseeing all workers assigned to this group and will specialize in several areas: PAINT – painting steel structure surfaces according to project needs. INVENTORY – manage the paint supplies and steel products coming in and out of the business. MATERIAL HANDLING – ensure raw materials are stored, recorded and controlled, prepared in the correct condition and issued to production in a timely manner as per the needs of the Plant Manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES

PAINT:
Aside from applying paint, they are responsible for cleaning and scraping off the dirt to prepare the painting procedures, identify client preferences, select equipment, and technique, and apply other finishes. They must also monitor their supplies and maintain the cleanliness of their work areas. Painters clean and prepare surfaces to be covered with new or fresh paint coats, using cleaners, brushes and scrapers, and apply new paint or sealers using rollers, brushes or sprayers. They apply protective coatings to steel structures to prevent corrosion or a fresh coat of paint to update or refresh bridges, towers, and other relevant structures. These individuals can work in a variety of weather conditions.

INVENTORY:
Create processes and design organized laydown yard to allow for the following: Keep accurate counts of stored items in yard, off-loading and loading trucks, tracking receipts (shipping & receiving), ing discrepancies in physical counts, and assisting in developing inventory management procedures. This role is also responsible for the maintenance of the storage yard and material contained within the yard. Responsible for counting all materials, equipment, supplies required for use in paint, yard, and inventory management process.

MATERIAL HANDLING:
Key task is to ensure that the shop production floor is continuously supplied with the proper materials, at the proper time so that there is no delay in production time on projects. Verify the accuracy of quantity and quality of incoming

Accountable for identifying and locating the right products during the delivery process. Keep a well-maintained and updated account of stock inventory. Must keep all material handling equipment I the best condition by ensuring regular maintenance.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

• Communicate with Plant Manager and Shop Leads regarding quality and production schedule needs
• Have an ability to work both as a team member and team leader
• Responsible to track shipping / receiving documents
• Ability to manage inventory in a structured form in an open yard or in racks
• Able to bend, kneel, squat, crouch, crawl, balance and stoop
• Ensure all safety procedures are followed
• Assist co-workers with other tasks as assigned
• Work independently and follow a schedule
• Ability to stand for extended periods of time and safely maneuver nearby
• Ability to organize raw and completed material and locate immediately on request
• Ability to train personal in proper use of tools utilized in paint and material handling
• Responsible to track equipment and vehicle maintenance
• Must be detailed oriented to paint and protect steel structures
• Must have knowledge of mechanical principles
• Strong communication skills and strong work habit
• Participate in company clean-up activities to ensure entire yard area outside shop is clean and tidy

SKILLS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

• GED or High School Diploma
• Previous experience in warehouse, transportation, paint, inventory, and material handling
• 3 – 5 years progress yard experience
• Computer literate (Word, Excel and manufacturing software)
• More than one language helpful
