Helcim Hiring for Head of Data and Analytics at Calgary, AB Full Time

Working within one of Canada’s Most Admired Company Cultures, this individual will fill a critical and central role optimizing data outcomes between both business and technical drivers.

As the leader of our newly formed data team, you will develop the team, the processes and operating rhythms, and the technology stack that will achieve the sustainable and measurable uplift in data quality required to achieve our customer, digital and analytics goals. You will work across the business with product managers, project teams, and technical experts to support achieving the greatest business outcomes using data. This is a pivotal role in a small and growing team in a company that is positioned for growth.

What you will do:
Manage all of Helcim’s data analysts and data engineers.

Contribute to the reimagining of our data technology stack using cloud technologies.

Develop an effective recruitment pipeline for data professionals in alignment with Helcim’s bottom up approach to building a company.

Develop data scientists and engineers on the team, helping them further their careers through continuous feedback and coaching.

Partner with engineers, product managers and operation teams to proactively identify and prioritize the most impactful data initiatives.

Build models for a wide range of business cases such as detecting fraud, predicting customer churn, or calculating customer acquisition cost across many competing touchpoints.

Design and implement end-to-end data pipelines: work closely with stakeholders to build models, tables or schemas that support business processes.

Build a functional data warehouse and self-service data platform for a wide range of stakeholders.

Build, manage and maintain the complete delivery cycle of analytics deliverables, including integrated dashboards and ad-hoc requests.

Who you are:
7+ years of data science or analysis experience with at least 3 years of experience directly managing a data organization.

Able to be hands on, but operate mostly as a coach to team members while steering the path of our data initiatives.

Strong ability to prioritize and communicate to technical and non-technical audiences.

Experience delivering business impact through analysis and data products.

Experience building data pipelines and driving ETL design decisions.

Expert knowledge of a scientific computing language (such as R or Python) and SQL

You hold a degree in a quantitative field (e.g., statistics, economics, sciences, mathematics, engineering).

Experience with Google Cloud Platform is a bonus.

Prior experience in a role that involved regular engagement with internal customers.

Candidates must be eligible to work in Canada and be located in Calgary for this position. Helcim uses a hybrid work structure where team members can work 3 days in the Calgary office (Monday/Wednesday/Friday) and 2 days (Tuesday/Thursday) at home. Staff are required to be fully vaccinated to work in our office and participate in company events.
