Summary

This position works closely with the assistant controller and accounting manager and must have the capability to prioritize and plan work activities efficiently to meet strict deadlines. Key behavioral traits include the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, the capability to handle unexpected events and adapt to these events in a timely and calm manner, the aptitude to work in a team environment with various departments and diverse personalities, and the ability to submit detail oriented work with excellent oral and written communication skills.

Job responsibilities

• Perform activities reconciling materials and production costs, cost of sales, product development, overhead, etc.
• Compare actual costs to standard costs and analyze variances
• Analyze actual manufacturing costs comparing them to the budgeted costs; including product margin reporting and analytics
• Examine inventory pricing variances and determine correct inventory pricing
• Submit monthly sales and use tax information to Indiana DOR
• Assist in the implementation of tagging fixed assets and fixed asset management
• Prepare monthly accrual journal entries for month end closing
• Analyze zero cost report
• Reconcile AP/AR issues
• Assist in planning and implementing yearly budget

Technical skills

• Proficient in MS Word, MS outlook
• Intermediate to advance knowledge in MS Excel
• Strong fundamental accounting knowledge (experience working in a standard cost system a plus)
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common financial reports and legal documents
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions

Education and Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance from a four-year college or university (0 years experience)
• Associate’s Degree in Accounting or Finance (3 years experience required)
• Flexibility and availability for hours of work especially during peak periods

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 – $24.00 per hour
