Location:

The position is located in the Alabaster office at Heart South Cardiovascular and s directly to the Endovascular/Peripheral Manager for all matters, including job duties, performance evaluations, approval of leave and other assignments as deemed necessary for the benefit of Heart South.

Nature of Duties:

Process patients through check in and/or check out process in a manner consistent with medical, administrative, ethical legal and regulatory requirements of the health care system. Communicate with patients, doctors and other staff members in a professional, timely and courteous manner.

Specific Duties:

• Create patient charts by entering demographic and insurance information
• Confirm appointments and verify insurance
• Schedule testing, procedures, and future appointments
• Process outgoing and incoming referrals
• Learn Centricity, Clearwave and Vital Interaction functions and operations
• Obtain insurance approval for certain procedures within office
• Follow all HIPPA guidelines concerning PHI and patient confidentiality
• Must be able to multitask in a fast-paced clinical setting

Qualifications:

Education: High school diploma/GED

Experience: Medical office experience preferred. Surgery scheduling and insurance verification preferred, but not required.

• Ability to set priorities among multiple requests
• Ability to effectively interact with patients, medical and administrative staff and the public
• Ability to use EMR, other relevant computer hardware and software, telephone, copier, fax machine and other standard medical office equipment

Mental/Physical Requirements: Involves sitting approximately 75 percent of the day, walking or standing the remainder, using computers and telephones
