About the opportunity

We are looking for an experienced Financial Accountant to support the Finance Manager in month end and year end process, as well as statutory compliance and reporting. You will also work across Accounts Receivables, Fixed Assets and reviewing of Accounts Payable and expense management. In addition, this role is responsible for the continuous improvement of Finance processes and procedures.

Key responsibilities of this role include:

• Review and ensure Accounts Payable information is captured in Healthdirect’s finance system (Tech1) and coded to the appropriate cost centre
• Assist Management Accountants with preparation of accruals for month end
• Raise Accounts Receivable invoices in accordance with the funding agreements and instructions of requestors
• Maintain Aged Debtors Ledger and communicate with clients as needed to ensure payment of outstanding invoices
• Maintain funding schedule for all jurisdictions
• Active and effective ownership of Fixed Asset register
• Prepare or assist in preparation of compliance reporting (e.g. FBT, BAS, PTRS and Payroll Tax)
• Prepare month end journals (e.g. prepayments, jurisdiction, interest and incomes allocations) in line with reporting deadlines
• Prepare sub ledger and balance sheet reconciliations
• Preparation of the monthly management accounts balance sheet and supporting schedules
• Prepare year end journals in line with reporting deadlines

What we’re looking for

• Sound experience in processing accounts payable, accounts receivable and other corporate transactions
• Experience in BAS, FBT, Payroll Tax and Payment Times Reporting
• Job costing experience in a multi-project environment
• Experience in analysing and interpreting financial data and completing financial reconciliations
• Experience in month end and year end preparation and reporting
• Experience with using financial systems and reporting tools, including proficiency in Excel
• Minimum Tertiary qualification (accounting or business degree)
• Newly or part qualified CA/CPA
