What’s the role about?

The John Lewis Partnership Tax team looks after the main taxes for the Partnership (e.g. VAT, corporate tax) and a lot of smaller ones too.

The tax team is part of a wider Corporate Finance and Control team led by Andy Mounsey, our Director of Corporate Finance and Control.

An exciting permanent opportunity has arisen to join as a member of the JLP tax team, mainly focusing on direct taxes (mostly corporation tax but some employment taxes too).

You will report into the Direct Tax Manager and provide support to the team to ensure the overall integrity of the direct tax compliance and reporting for the John Lewis Partnership.

What will you be doing?

Key responsibilities might include:

• Direct tax return preparation (e.g. corporation tax and some employment tax)

• Managing the direct tax compliance timetable

• Tax provision preparation for group and individual companies

• Direct tax forecasting

• Total tax contribution report preparation

• Supporting the direct tax manager on ad hoc advisory work

• Supporting the other members of the tax team and broader Finance team as needed

• Advising on incremental improvements to processes and controls

• Partnering with non tax colleagues to enable successful delivery of projects and other tasks

What you’ll have- Essential criteria

• Experience in direct tax
• Confident user of Excel

• Tax or accounting qualification
• Confident in tax accounting
