Job Summary and Qualifications

you will act as the primary secretarial resource for the Charge nurse, team leader, and the nursing unit. Assist in ordering supplies and other assigned duties. You will be responsible for the smooth operation of all secretarial functions. The Unit Secretary acts as the focal point of communication on the nursing unit. Utilizes the computer system to enter patient information, patient request, and required orders.

Tasks and responsibilities, you will:

• Professionally answers the telephone in a friendly and helpful manner.
• Responds to patients, families, and visitors in a kind and courteous manner.
• Fosters communication between multiple disciplines on behalf of the patient.
• Organizes and manages activities to show consideration of the unit as a whole.
• Assist with the discharge/transfer of patients to another facility by copying the chart and placing appropriate calls to expedite the process.

What qualifications you will need:

• High school or GED. Vocational/Technical.
• Preferred experience in some capacity, i.e. unit, secretary.
• Customer service abilities including effective listening skills
• Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment
