The Controls Engineer will be responsible for technical process support and driving manufacturing productivity by improving process efficiencies, reducing wastes, improving quality, and increasing capacities related to control systems. This includes adding new and/or modifying and improving current systems.
Primary Duties

• Drive and lead process improvement projects related to productivity efficiencies, reducing waste, improving quality and safety improvement.

• Modify and upgrade features to existing control systems (instrumentation, hardware, software, database tools).

• Define and lead larger projects with system integrators.

• Define and calculate electrical power requirements for new and upgraded equipment installations.

• Calculate financial impact of process and control alternatives.

• Lead by example in the areas of safety improvement and the application of quality measures.

• Development of standardized work procedures and provide necessary training.

• Support Maintenance in troubleshooting equipment failures to minimize downtime.

• Work with various personnel and departments to determine requirements and needs.

• Develop network systems and controller integration.

• Develop control system panel fabrication and schematics.

Required Qualifications

• BS in Engineering

• 4+ years practical controls engineering experience.

• Experience in technical problem solving and project management.

• Ability to support 24/7 operation.

• Familiarity with data acquisition and Factory Talk historian.

Preferred Qualifications

• BS Electrical Engineer

• Allen Bradley and DirectLogic equipment and programing.

• HMI programming and graphics development.

• Mixing and packaging equipment, filters, and control systems.

• Design, specification, and troubleshooting of process instrumentation, analog and digital.

• Design and troubleshooting of conventional machine control architecture.

• Working knowledge of safety requirements for process control and electrical systems (XP or ATEX, SIL).

• Knowledge of NFPA 70 (NEC), ISA and applicable NFPA codes (including practices and methodologies for C1D1 environments).
