Your new role

Your role as the Financial Accountant is to undertake a range of finance and accounting related tasks. Directed by the Finance Manager your position will include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Responsible for oversight and delivery of accounts receivable and accounts payable functions within the Finance team.
• Provide team leadership and supervise the performance of direct reports by setting work objectives, assessing performance and providing feedback, development and coaching to develop staff capabilities and meet objectives.
• Assist with the preparation of financial reports, schedules and supporting documentation
• Assist with the development and delivery of internal and external audit programs.
• Maintain the integrity of all financial information pertaining to fixed asset registers, including quarterly movement reports.
• Calculate and process various accrual and general journals, complete all ledger reconciliations.
• Assess all grant and contribution requirements, monitor compliance, prepare monthly summaries, provide support/guidance to other staff as required and facilitate grant acquittal reports for endorsement

What you’ll need to succeed

To be successful in this role you be a motivated individual with team leadership skills and an eye for process improvement .

• Bachelor’s Degree (Accounting/Finance) or relevant equivalent experience.
• Demonstrated experience in delivering a range of accounting functions in a large organisation.
• Strong technical accounting skills and expert knowledge of statutory and government reporting
• Exposure to public sector finance practices.
• Proven ability to deliver work to tight deadlines.
• Proven ability to analyse and redesign business processes and to implement improvements
• Have exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders and other staff
• Provide support for innovative solutions to ensure effective operation.
