Our client is a respectable not-for-profit client based in Bendigo. They are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Accounts Payable officer to join their team on a full-time permanent basis. (Initially Temp for Probation)

Your new role

The Accounts Payable / Finance Accountant reporting to Finance Manager is responsible for undertaking a wide range of finance and accounting related activities. This role will work as part of the finance team to ensure the timely and accurate delivery of budgets, accounts payable, payroll, financial accounting and reporting, reconciliations, grants and revenues. The role will be primarily responsible for ensuring the financial accounting and financial management obligations of the organization are met. As a senior member of this team, the Financial Accountant is expected to coach and train less experienced staff and provide ongoing support and guidance. Below are some of the key responsibilities of the position:

• Financial accounting
• Establishing and maintaining program-level ledgers
• Oversee Accounts Payable – assist with reporting, reviewing, and controlling.
• Oversee Payroll – assist with reviewing and controlling.
• Asset accounting
• Grants and revenue allocation and reporting
• General journals, Bank reconciliations & Other balance sheet account reconciliations
• Audit prep; Financial statements.
• Develop and distribute regular financial dashboard reporting to leaders and managers
• Financial systems development and identify and implement efficiencies
• Budget input into financial and budget management systems
• Reconciliation of funding received to funding agreements
• Participate to month end reporting and budget variance analysis
• Oversee the Overall Income and Expenditure for all organization’s Programs including generating reports for management to review for risk and opportunity
• Work with Project Accountant and program managers to design, manage and report on their budgets
• Development of Finance Team members
• Debtor management
• Assist the Finance Manager as requested

What you’ll need to succeed

To be successful in the role you will need to have demonstrated the following:

• Accounting or Finance Degree
• CPA or ACA qualified or near qualified
• Demonstrated experience in a similar role
• Experience in a not-for-profit and/or community services organisation is advantage
• Satisfactory Criminal Police Record Check.
• Valid Working with Children’s Check.
• Must hold current full Victorian Drivers Licence and provide a copy.
• Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
