This Federal Government Department provides a vital service within their industry, to ensure that key objectives are met, maintained and adhered to.

Your new role

The successful applicants will work within a high performing team to provide advice and support for the portfolio agency’s financial and accounting arrangements. The duties will include the following responsibilities:

• Preparation of reconciliations and workpapers to support monthly and annual statutory financial reporting requirements
• Month end processes including journal processing, review of accounting transactions and monthly reconciliations
• Contribution to the development of accounting policies and position papers
• Preparation of reports and advice on technical accounting and finance matters
• Coordination and preparation of the annual financial statements for both entities in consultation with individual agency CFO’s.

What you’ll need to succeed

To be successful in this role you must be able to demonstrate the above listed skills, be able to work in a team environment, have experience working within a Federal Department / Agency, as would experience using TechOne or SAP with a current security clearance.

• Excellent relationship management skills – ability to build strong relationships with senior stakeholders to achieve a high level of trust and respect to influence outcomes and communicate findings.
• Technical knowledge – experience in financial accounting in the government sector.
• Analytical – the ability to identify underlying issues and interrogate financial information.
• Regular communication and collaboration – understand the business environment, challenges and priorities.
• Astute judgement – the capability to assess a situation, weigh up risk and reward and act with integrity and professionalism when dealing with sensitive or classified information.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities and meet tight deadlines.

To be eligible for this role you must be a degree qualified Australian Citizen with a CA / CPA post qualification.
