This large Federal Government department are looking to engage with a APS6 Finance officer

Your new role

This position is responsible for providing financial management support, reporting and administration. The finance officer liaises closely with a variety of stakeholders responsible for the maintenance and continuous improvement of the branch. Responsibilities and duties will include:

• Delivery and outcomes of the financial activities as required to support the committee, sub-committees and sub-groups
• Manage and coordinate month end processing i.e. accruals and journals.
• Provide a range of financial and budget services (e.g. Budget development, end-of-month and end of financial year reporting, forecasting).
• Financial analysis and reconciliation processes on a monthly basis and as directed.
• Provide financial advice within the Departmental Financial Framework, as required.
• Provide financial advice within the Financial Policy and Procedural Guidance, as required.
• Manage coordination activities relating to expenditure such as assets stocktakes and ad‑hoc corporate requests.
• Ensure continual improvement in all aspects of finance, budgeting and reporting.
• Manage general administrative and coordination support.
• Required to manage and monitor emerging issues and provide solutions or advise management of any potential issues as required.

• Accounting qualification (desirable but not essential)
• Strong analytical and investigative skills
