Our team is looking for a hands-on Sr. Software Engineer that will be working with the leadership team to accelerate the development of the platform. You will be a foundational member of our team, working closely with the founding team in a fully remote organization.

What you’ll be doing::
Develop high quality software solutions by studying current user needs, business requirements, and technical processes
Maintain a commitment to Walnut’s user-first approach to the insurance space
Develop and maintain a high degree of technical proficiency across the range of technologies used by Walnut, and foster a commitment to teaching. Continue to stay abreast of the latest development tools, programming techniques and best practices
Improve operations by conducting systems analysis and recommending changes in policies and procedures
Maintain an awareness of Walnut as well as industry security posture; work to help develop Walnut’s security practices by identifying weaknesses, maintaining knowledge
Who we’re looking for::
5+ years of development experience, working with a range of web technologies
A strong understanding of principles of web development; HTML, CSS, web JS
Background with Vue, GraphQL, MongoDB, and/or Node considered a strong asset
Familiarity with AWS and cloud-native architectures considered a strong asset
Ability to write clear and concise code, with appropriate documentation, and to write unit tests as needed
Ability to communicate clearly with cross-functional teams
Strong problem solving skills
Must be able to work with minimal supervision
A product mindset with the ability to maintain awareness of development roadmap, and contribute to a team understanding of product goals
Experience with Figma/Photoshop/Sketch and UI/UX experience is a plus
Startup experience is not required but entrepreneurial drive is definitely a good thing
