Both of the entities are held privately by James W. Brown III and Joseph W. Brown. Tailwind Technologies Inc. has a long and steady track record of profitable growth dating to the acquisition of Hartzell Propeller in 1987.

Hartzell Propeller is the leading manufacturer of aircraft propeller systems for general aviation, supplying propeller systems for aircraft manufacturers and modifiers around the world. We are a small, team-oriented company where individual contributions are encouraged and recognized. We are located in Piqua, Ohio, approximately 25 miles north of Dayton – the birthplace of aviation. Piqua is a community of 22,000, which offers a friendly, small-town atmosphere yet is still an easy drive to Dayton, Columbus and Cincinnati.
Key Responsibilities:
Hartzell Propeller seeks a Human Resource Generalist responsible to provide comprehensive and proactive HR support to all levels of employees in the areas of benefits administration, health and wellness and employee communication. In addition, the HR Generalist will play a significant role in the hiring process to ensure that we are attracting and hiring the right talent for the business.
Key Deliverables of the Position:
1) Support the strategic development, implementation and management of Tailwind, (Hartzell Propeller and Hartzell Engine Technologies), benefit plans and programs that meet employee needs and government regulations.
2) Ensure legal compliance with federal, state and other government requirements through required postings, mailings, affirmative action requirements, EEO reporting, updated policies and audits.
a. Manage the annual compliance activities for the retirement plans
3) Support the management of Hartzell integrated Health and Wellness programs, which meet employee needs and comply with government regulations.
4) Maintain Workers Compensation, Leaves of Absence and Restriction Management to ensure accurate and compliant record keeping, employee understanding and appropriate management communication.
5) Play a significant role in attracting and recruiting top talent.

1) Learn the company culture and build productive relationships with the workforce.
2) Get fully up to speed on all company benefits and other HR programs.
3) In collaboration with others, develop a program to build partnerships with local community colleges and universities
. Requirements:
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or a related field with a minimum of 5 years of HR generalist or specialist experience required – with a heavy focus on benefits administration and hiring. Experience in a manufacturing environment is a must.

3) Attract and Recruiting Top Talent – Experience with the recruiting and hiring process including college outreach, job postings, resume screening and interview skills.
4) Compliance – Demonstrated understanding of Labor Laws related to Wage and Hour, ERISA, Drug Testing, EEO and VETs reporting and Affirmative Action.
5) Audit Preparation and Procedures – Demonstrated understanding of both external and internal audit procedures.

7) Proficient Computer Skills: Enterprise-wide HR software system (we use Paylocity), Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point
