Overview:

Harrow Council are looking for a positive, enthusiastic and approachable professional to be part of Harrow Virtual School within the Education Division. The post holder will support the Virtual Headteacher to champion the educational needs of Children Looked After (CLA) and care leavers, wherever they are being educated and identify which interventions are most effective in supporting the educational achievement of children in care. The post holder will provide 1:1 mentoring support for students to overcome their barriers to learning they experience both inside and outside the school.

About you:

The successful applicant will have:

  • English and Maths GCSEs Grade C ( or equivalent)
  • Sound understanding of safeguarding of vulnerable children and young adults
  • Have an understanding of some of the barriers to learning frequently experienced by CLA
  • Experience of working in an education provision e.g schools, early years settings, colleges, specialist provisions
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to be able to develop and maintain good relationships with colleagues and the Harrow Virtual School community
  • Satisfactory Enhanced DBS
