Harrow Council Hiring for Finance Officer Job at Harrow, England Full Time

The Finance and Assurance Division at Harrow Council are looking for a Finance Officer to join their team. The post holder will primarily provide accountancy support and advice as appropriate to the Central Finance section. They will work within the technical finance team clearing holding accounts, processing journals and carrying out reconciliations. The post holder will extract data from the Council’s finance system (D365) and manipulate/consolidate it for inclusion in management information reports. The Finance Officer will work as directed on year-end accounts, dealing with accruals, preparing and processing year end entries, preparing working papers and notes to the Statement of Accounts or schedules for the external auditors.

About you:

The successful applicant will have:

• AAT qualification or part qualification, CCAB (or equivalent) or demonstrable relevant experience.
• Up to date relevant knowledge of accounting practices preferably in the public sector.
• Working knowledge of using of computerised financial systems, ideally D365 and Microsoft Office products.
• Good level of numeric/arithmetic skills
• Good level of Microsoft Excel skills, familiar with Vlookup & Pivot tables
• Advanced ability to extract relevant financial data from a General Ledger financial system
• The ability to initiate and maintain good working relationships with others, even in difficult and challenging situations
• The ability to work in a team and to provide support and cover to other team members.
• Demonstrable and proven knowledge and experience of managing or performing some of the key duties/accountabilities related to this post
• Experience of working in and supporting colleagues in a team environment.
