The Opportunity

HRV is looking for a highly motivated individual for this exciting opportunity within the Flemington Head Office to join the Finance team in the role of Assistant Accountant.

Reporting to the Finance Manager, the role will be responsible, but not limited to:

• Preparation of monthly management reports (Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow Reports, with commentary)
• Assist with preparation of year end statutory accounts and audits.
• Preparation of monthly forecasts and annual budgets
• Monitoring the performance of individual Departments performance against budget and investigating the reason for any deviations
• Identify areas for improvement in existing practices, systems, procedures, governance and internal controls
• Providing advice and support to other members of the team, including working together with problem solving
• Business partnering with the Hospitality team
• Ad hoc projects as needed including finance system implementation, financial modelling and analysis on new ventures, and cost initiatives

About You

As the successful candidate, you will have:

• A degree qualification in Accounting with 2+ years practical experience within a finance environment.
• Demonstrated intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel including spread sheet creation and the use of formulas and functions.
• Begun or completed further accounting qualification e.g. CPA or equivalent
• A keen interest in working in the harness racing industry
• Previous experience in hospitality industry preferrable
