Harmony serves children ages two through kindergarten and follows a school year calendar with a reduced-hour summer session. Harmony’s thoughtfully designed classrooms are filled with sunlight, calming colors, and natural materials to resemble a peaceful, home-like learning environment. With an expansive outdoor space for children to explore, our indoor and outdoor play spaces foster connection, discovery, and natural learning.

About the Position

Harmony Natural Learning Center is seeking an assistant teacher to join our Transitional Preschool Program. This program, for children aged two to three, offers a gentle opportunity for children to gain independence and practice Preschool rhythms. Our classroom features small group learning communities with consistent teachers and peers. The importance of community is built through gathering times, the making of fresh-baked bread, ample independent play, exploration, and social time both indoors and outdoors in our Discovery Garden. A low, 1:3 teacher/student ratio in the Transitional Preschool Program offers each child unprecedented support through the process of separation, emotional self-regulation, and impulse control while fostering social learning and building strong relationships.

Salary: $20,800

School Year Schedule:
Now – June 22, 2023
Tuesday & Thursday 8:00am – 5:00pm* (In addition to above salary, additional hourly compensation is offered for 12:30-5:00 on T/Th.)
Tuesday, Thursday 8:00am – 1:00pm
Harmony is closed on all major holidays and for school vacations.

Summer Schedule:
June 27, 2023 – August 17, 2023 (closed the week of July 4th)
Tuesday and Thursday only 8:00-1:00

Qualifications

Preferred applicants will have a contagious love for working with toddlers, enjoy nurturing young children’s innate curiosity, ensure the safety and well-being of the children, be highly organized and flexible, take direction well, be self-motivated, collaborate with teaching team, take part in continuous professional development, and have a strong desire to support the philosophy of the school.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience working with toddlers. Candidates without experience will be considered, and encouraged to apply, if a career in early childhood education is a strong interest.
