Responsibilities for diet technician

Performs basic nutritional screening and nutritional care to patients under the

supervision of a Clinical Dietitian according to patient’s age including

neonate, child, adolescent, adult geriatric and terminally ill patients

Performs menu editing as directed by the Clinical Dietitian

Prepares patient trays accurately

Assist in orienting and in servicing new employees to department

Assist dieticians with patient diet screening

Nutritional Service Technician certification, preferred

Assists the clinical Dietitian in providing nutrition care services to patients

according to department standards, expectations, patient specific needs,

disease condition, impairment, and disability

Performs a variety of technical duties for the department requiring a high

degree of competence, initiative, and independence

Analyze objective and clinical data to identify and evaluate nutrition status

and needs

Assist in training new dietetic technicians

Qualifications for diet technician

2 years of formal education or training beyond high school (Associates

degree, certified dietary manager program, or dietary technician registration)

1 year previous Food and Nutrition Services experience preferred

The ideal candidate will have at least 1 year of hospital experience
