Manufacturing Project Engineer

The Manufacturing Project Engineer supports the day-to-day assembly and processes for the high precision 5 axis grinding machine as well as for the custom erization project supporting. This involves develop the routing plan, workshop layout, champion the lean initiatives, continuous improvement projects, and standardization to support better productivity/cost/quality. Working closely with engineering team to provide technical solutions regarding assembly issues, routing development, assembly process development and improvement, and tooling/fixture design. The requirements for this position in the Machine Assembly department, are as follows:

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

• Education background with mechanical, Electrical or industry/manufacturing engineering, bachelor’s degree is preferred
• 25 years of experiences in CNC, precision equipment, automation solution manufacturing (assembly, quality, design, or ME functions preferred)
• Experiences with leading, supporting production line installation project, equipment or process customization project or automation conversion project or implementations is preferred
• Professional training of project management or lean/6 sigma program is preferred, proved tracking record of successful project case, or change champion is a plus
• The learning/open attitude and passion are the key, we can compromise experience level if we can feel the attitude.

SPECIFIC TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE:

• Three to five years of CNC machine assembly/manufacturing preferred
• Project management skills preferred
• ERP system knowledge, preferably JD Edwards

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Manufacturing support

• Solve technical problems in workshop and help design engineering more focus on the product design by liaison role, technical understanding, and hands on working style.
• Assures product and process quality by designing quality inspection and testing methods; establishing standards; and support resources to maintain and document processes.
• Evaluates manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research programs; applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors; soliciting observations and participation from operators.
• Coordinate new product release from Product Engineering to Manufacturing – this role can be project support or project lead.
• Coordinate/implement engineering changes among engineering, assembly and quality teams
• Develops manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment; conferring with equipment vendors
• Improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
• Maintains product and process data base by writing computer programs; entering data.

Continuously improvement

• Continuously improving standardization and productivity by defining/optimizing sequencing of assembly, working instruction developing, opportunity finding for standardized modules and prekit assembly, prior assembly checking of design documentations (and resource/parts) and optimizing assembly tools/fixtures/environments
• Analyze, evaluate, promote and oversee implementation of production improvements and cost reduction ideas using lean methodology. Lead processrelated projects from inception to full implementation.
• Facilitate continuous improvement throughout the location. Utilize Lean tool expertise (5S, Standard Work, DMAIC, Material Flow, etc.) to drive continuous improvements.

Project Support

• Project support, to be assigned for specific projects and work for project leaders to control the overall project target deliverables, open issues, and communications.
• Continuously improving our operation, project management structure by set up process, documentations, database of trouble shootings.
