This position is located at Mesta in North Huntingdon, Pennsylvania.

The Senior Software Engineer is responsible for performing key design/software development functions related to the operation of Mesta/HPS induction heating inverters (IHI) and active harmonic filters (AHF) and for writing, debugging, and test assembly and C language software primarily used to control inverters (i.e. Analog devices SHARC DSP and ST Micro Arm Cortex microcontrollers). The inverters are used for IHI and AHF systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Write, debug, and test assembly code for DSPs that perform high speed control of inverter based equipment.
• Write, debug and test C language software used in HMI (human-machine interface systems) for power related equipment.
• Perform verification testing of equipment after changes in control systems have been made.
• Documentation for use by other engineers, manufacturing, sales and customers. Work with sales to evaluate potential AHF applications. Documentation includes producing test procedures, operating manuals, troubleshooting aids and documents, and provide guidance to Sales regarding suitable applications for AHF use.
• Develop a working understanding of the hardware used in the IHI and AHF products including learning about the PC board circuitry, power circuitry and construction of the products to be able to better design software to control them and to eventually assist manufacturing, sales and end customers.
• Work with hardware engineering to solve problems that might occur during manufacturing or in the field. This will include assisting Manufacturing to solve problems that are encountered during testing of production items and performing analysis on problems that occur in equipment in the field in order to rectify those problems.

Qualifications:

• BS or MS in Electrical or Computer Engineering
• Knowledge of C and/or assembler programming
• Knowledge of real-time control theory and digital filtering techniques.
