Customer & Vendor Services Assistant (Part-Time)
Reporting to the Team Lead, Farmers’ Market, the Customer & Vendor Services
Assistant performs customer and vendor services duties, assists with all new vendor application processes and administration, assists with table license agreements, and setting up new vendor orientations. This position also assists with day-to-day customer service and custodial duties, setting up the Market floor for Market Day(s) and events. This position is responsible to complete all tasks required at the Customer service desk, including but not limited to, vendor payments, Market update emails, vendor requests and customer engagement, and other related activities at the Halifax Seaport Farmers Market.
The successful candidate must have completed Grade 12 with strong customer service experience. A background in community development and hospitality management is preferred. Previous experience in Farmer’s Market environment and entrepreneurship experience would be considered an asset. Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and other internet-based software.
The successful candidate must demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills, strong customer service skills, and the ability to maintain cooperation and good working relationships. Must be able to effectively manage time, work independently, be self-motivated, and have the ability to multitask. and work well under pressure. Working well under pressure and maintaining composure and objectivity at all times is required. Ability to maintain cooperation and excellent working relationships with coworkers and other departments, vendors, clients, customers, companies and others.
This is a unionized part-time permanent position with a starting annual salary of $43,057 pro-rated based on full-time equivalent (i.e., $27,556 based on 24 hours/week). This position will be required to work 3 days per week with core days of work being Friday (8:30am-4:30pm), Saturday (6:30am-3:30pm), and Sunday (8:30am-3:00pm). Friday can be flexible based on individual schedules. This position will be eligible for health, dental, and vision benefits.
The successful candidate will be subject to successfully completing a physical examination, must pass and maintain a Criminal Record Check and must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Marine Transportation Security Clearance (MTSC). The
Halifax Port Authority has a policy requiring all individuals to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
