Are you an aspiring, self-motivated developer with a desire to make a real impact in an exciting health-tech startup?

Haelu specialises in software development for health and social care and is working alongside a Welsh health board to co-create a new innovative solution, as well as with a leading Canadian software provider, Cliniconex, to provide their products in the UK.

Having recently won the Welsh Health Hack 2022, we have an exciting opportunity for a permanent, full-time Head of Software Development to join our team. This position is well-suited for an ambitious, hardworking person who is looking to develop their leadership skills.

In this role, you will answer to the CEO and lead our software development team. You will provide direction to the development team, supporting them through code reviews and daily standups, ensuring the constant progress of our own solution.

Responsibilities:

• Managing our small development team, including discussing the quality of completed assignments with employees

• Ensuring that systems are safe and secure against cybersecurity threats

• Maintaining and supporting cloud infrastructure

• Writing code, testing and debugging

• Reporting on the company’s technological status, goals and progress

• Collaborating with the founding team to provide technical direction.

Day-to-day:

• Attending daily standup meetings, and running fortnightly sprint planning meetings.

• Providing direction and support to the software development team.

• Coding, testing, debugging and writing documentation.

Essential Requirements:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science or similar, or equivalent level of knowledge and experience.

• A strong understanding of Agile methodologies and experience with Agile tools, eg. Jira

• Experience with PHP, Python, HTML5, CSS3, Javascript ES6 or similar languages.

• Experience with DevOps and AWS

• Strong leadership skills and excellent organisational skills to effectively steer and coordinate our company’s technological efforts and developments

Desirables:

• Knowledge of technological processes and data security practices in line with relevant laws and regulations, including GDPR.

• Previous experience as a Scrum Master or similar role

• Previous experience in the Health and Social Care industry
