THE POSITION
Under general supervision of an administrator or supervisor, performs a wide variety of clerical work.
CURRENT OPENING : There are currently multiple part-time and full-time openings (10 months, 10 to 40 hours per week). Salary placement will be on Range 16 of the CSEA Salary Schedule “B.
Initial salary placement for new employees is customarily at step 1 ($18.97 per hour) of this salary range.

A Senior Office Assistant performs specialized and complex clerical and is typically responsible for a functional unit of activity.
An Office Receptionist operates a central District-wide computerized phone system and performs a variety of clerical work.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Employees in this classification stand, walk, sit, reach, lift up to 25 pounds, carry, push, pull, stoop / kneel, balance, bend repeatedly, repetitively use fingers, repetitively twist or apply pressure using wrists or hands, use both hands simultaneously, use rapid mental / muscular coordination simultaneously, speak clearly, hear normal voice conversation, see near and far, use depth perception, see small details, use a computer, and telephone.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Employees in this classification work inside, in direct contact with public, students, and other District staff, with exposure to dust and minor contagious illnesses (cold, flu, etc.
with a high volume of work and tight deadlines, and with continuously changing priorities and interruptions.

Per Board policy, employees are allowed on District campuses or facilities only if they are fully vaccinated. This resolution applies to all applicants upon hire.

General Information
The screening process for this position, which may be subject to modification, will include some form of an application screening, initial screening of qualifications, documentation / certification screening, and in some instances supplemental application screening.

All parts of the examination process are job related. A passing score must be attained on each portion of the exam to advance to the next stage and ultimate placement on the eligibility list, which depending on the classification, may be in force for six months or one year.

Paid Holidays
Up to 16 holidays per year depending on months worked for all classified employees.
Paid Vacation
Vacation is prorated for all classified employees, based on the hours and months worked per year. Below is the vacation schedule for classified supervisors and classified staff.
Classified Employee Vacation Chart
1-5 years of service
One day of vacation will be earned per month worked.
6-10 years of service
One and one-quarter (1 ¼) days of vacation will be earned per month worked.
11-15 years of service
One and one-half (1 ½) days of vacation will be earned per month worked.
16-20 years of service
One and three-fourths (1 ¾) days of vacation will be earned per month worked.
21 + years of service
Two (2) days of vacation will be earned per month worked.
Health Benefits
For positions 35 hours or more per week the District contributes $11,900 (subject to change) toward annual premium for medical, dental, vision and life insurance coverage.
Partially paid benefits are available for part-time (20-34) hour employees. The District participates in the Public Employees’ Retirement System (PERS).

Paid Sick Leave
Every regular classified employee, probationary or permanent, can earn paid sick leave credit(s) based on one day for each month in which such employees are in a paid status with the District.
Earned, but unused sick leave can accumulate without limit. Full-time classified employees (those who work 8 hours per day, 5 days per week and 12 months per year) will normally earn twelve (12) days of sick leave credit(s) during each fiscal year.
