Instructional Designer, Integrated Vegetation Management

Description of Grow With Trees Company:

GWT is an independent voice within the gas and electric utility industry. Our mission is to promote integrated vegetation management on utility rights-of-way to support wildlife conservation. Annually, North American utilities manage millions of acres of vegetation with the primary goal of ensuring safe and reliable transmission of energy. Through the proper implementation of integrated vegetation management, energy utilities can manage vegetation responsibly for the benefit of their customers and the environment; however, there is a need to equip vegetation management crews with the skills needed to perform integrated vegetation management.

Position Description:

Grow With Trees is seeking an instructional designer to assist with the design, development, and implementation of integrated vegetation management training materials, and with performance evaluation of select audiences.

Position Location:

Remote.

Level of Effort, Duration, & Ideal Start Date:

Full-time contract position for 6-months, after which time an option to join the GWT team will be provided dependent upon performance appraisal and contractor desire.

Onboarding will begin in early to mid-January 2022.

Annual Contract Rate:

$80000 – $100000 / year, based on 50 weeks / year, rate dependent upon experience.

Responsibilities:

• Evaluate the instructional effectiveness of existing client programs, courses, and training products.
• Collaborate and consult with GWT staff and clientele on the effective use of Web-based resources, multimedia technologies, and instructional software to improve online training programs.
• Coordinate the design and development of instructional materials that are functional, informative, engaging, and consistent with sound instructional design principles.
• Design a curriculum from industry standard texts and translate complex ideas into simple training modules.
• Develop instructional end goals and design and implement knowledge assessments.
• Provide for the effective implementation of instructional products and programs.

Required Qualifications:

• Graduate degree in instructional design or instructional / educational technology or in a related professional field.
• At least 5 years of experience in the field of instructional / educational technology, including designing, developing, and managing corporate (and / or higher education) instructional projects and programs.

Special Skills / Knowledge:

The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated, organized, and detail-oriented team member who can participate in collaborative instructional development processes and activities, is able to work independently, and has strong intellectual and analytical skills.

In Addition, the Ideal Candidate Will Have:

• Extensive knowledge of current and emerging instructional technologies.
• An understanding of pedagogical issues related to online teaching and learning, particularly adult learning.
• Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary groups.
• Experience with training, staff development, and teaching.
• Ability to interpret client needs.
• Commitment to customer service.
• Demonstrated written, presentation, and interpersonal communications skills.
• Demonstrated proficiency with Learning Management Systems.
• Demonstrated ability to create engaging instructional videos that include narration, animation, and video editing.
• Ability to manage and meet deadlines.
• Knowledge of forestry / vegetation management principles (preferred, though not required).
• Spanish conversational and writing skills (preferred, though not required).
