The Battery Engineer’s role will be to support the commercialization of SCC55TM, Group14’s best-in-class silicon anode material. They will design and develop lithium-ion battery pouch cells for high-energy and high-power applications. This role will carry out technology transfer of cell manufacturing, as well as design and prototype engineering solutions towards continuous improvement of the battery cell line.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:

• Develop performance specifications and establish silicon battery design details required for high energy and high-power applications.

• Design and execute protocols to optimize various processes in the cell development from concept to implementation.

• Oversee maintenance and operation of pouch cell manufacturing.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

• B.S. in chemical or electrochemical engineering, material science, or related field.

• 3+ years working at a battery manufacturer or battery related research lab.

• Expertise in battery cell manufacturing and electrochemistry.

• Experience with advanced cell testing systems and methods to characterize battery performance and safety.

• Good written and verbal communication skills in English.

• Self-motivated individual able to be an independent contributor.

OTHER QUALITIES WE’D LOVE FOR YOU TO HAVE:

• 1+ years’ experience in making multilayer pouch cells.

• In-depth knowledge on degradation mechanism and failure mode analysis of cells.

• Experience operating a slot die coater.

• Experience with conventional and novel methods for battery slurry processing.

• Experience operating a pouch cell manufacturing line.

• Experience with cell design and formulation – cell development.

The base salary range for this role is $80,000 to $130,000. Actual pay depends on various factors, such as complexity and responsibility of role, job duties/requirements, and relevant experience and skills.
