About Greyparrot:

The world is in a waste crisis. Currently, we produce 2.1 billion tons of solid waste per year. Data collection of the waste we produce is non-existent, meaning no systematic transparency and no accountability. As a result, recycling targets are not upheld, dumping of waste into our oceans remains nobody’s responsibility, recyclables get sent to landfill or incineration, and producers get away with sub-standard packaging. By 2040 the plastic stock in the ocean will have quadrupled – a problem that already costs society $1.5 trillion every year.

Our mission at Greyparrot is to digitise waste to increase transparency and efficiency in recycling by providing data analytics to sorting centres, packaging producers and regulators. Currently, our camera system and AI software are deployed in recycling plants and waste facilities, like A2A, around the world to measure material flows and provide waste analytics. We are at an exciting stage of growth and need an experienced Finance Director to support us.

About the role:

This role will work directly with the CEO and others in the management team to improve on existing financial processes. Suitable for someone who has worked in a startup before and has a strong understanding of the dynamics between startups and investors. You’ll have the ability to work flexibly in order to get the job done.

You will have responsibility for:

• Operational finances – improving key operational processes e.g. purchasing/accounts payable, payroll

• Accounting – overseeing GL, transaction reconciliation, closing process, management accounts preparation, tax filings

• FP&A – driving the financial planning process, performance analytics, internal and external (board/investors) reporting, supporting strategic decision making from a financial perspective

• General corporate – e.g. cap table management, statutory filings

Requirements:

• Degree in Accounting or Finance, or an accounting qualification e.g. CPA/ACCA

• Prior demonstrable experience with operational finances, FP&A, accounting and general corporate

• Experience in a startup/VC environment

• Experience with Xero

• Ability to self-organise and prioritise tasks

• Flexible approach to work

• Passion for addressing the waste crisis or other environmental issues

It’d be a plus if you had:

• International accounting experience

• Experience with accounting for inventory/hardware

A few things to note:

• We are open to candidates who want to join us on a PAYE or consulting basis. This role is for 2 days a week.

• This role will be predominantly remote, but willingness to come to the office in London if needed on occasion
