As a company we are continuing to grow both our team and client base, in response, we are seeking professional, highly competent ecologists at both Ecologist and Senior level to join the team.

The Package

Salary: Ecologist £22,000 – £28,000, Senior Ecologist £28,000 – £35,000 (depending on experience).

Location: This role can be both office or home based or a mix of both, please specify when applying your preference. Our main office is located in Withyham, East Sussex but to accommodate business growth we are also in the process of developing an additional team in Kent and Surrey. Our main working area is Kent, Sussex, Surrey and occasionally further afield.

Hours: Full Time or Part Time welcome, please specify which you are looking for on application. Some out-of-hours working will be required to aid with the provision surveys and meetings.

Ecologist / Senior Role

Working as part of the team you will enjoy that all important balance between field and office/home based work, whilst working within a friendly, supportive team on a variety of projects across a range of sectors.

You will deliver projects and undertake, manage and co-ordinate a wide range of habitat and protective species surveys, providing ecological advice to clients and designing mitigation strategies when required.

You will manage, produce and review the analysis and statistical assessment of ecological data, and a wide range of technical reports inclusive of EPS licence applications, Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA, EcIA), HRA, BREEAM and NET Gain.

You will be maintaining links with our clients, producing tenders and RAMS, reviewing project budgets and timelines.

You will also have opportunity to participate in developing new business / work streams. On occasion representing GES at external meetings and events

Senior Ecologist’s would be involved in team training and have the rewarding task of line managing and mentoring more junior members of the team, helping them to grow in their career and knowledge.

Qualifications, Key Attributes and Personal Specification

To be successful in the role we are looking for applications from experienced professionals who have worked in a similar role within ecological consultancy. Applicants must have strong project management, surveying, technical knowledge and communication skills, be detail orientated, commercially aware, motivated and where required have the ability to mentor and manage others.

Skills & Experience

· A minimum of 2yrs (Ecologist), 4yrs (Senior) experience of working within UK ecological consultancy

· A detailed working knowledge of ecological consultancy, UK ecology, planning policy and relevant environmental legislation

· Experience of mid to large-scale residential, commercial schemes

· Experience of Line Management (Senior Level)

· Strong project management skills with the ability to plan and deliver works in line with budgets and programme deadlines

· Proven experience of conducting an array of EIA, habitat and protective species surveys to a high standard and have detailed knowledge of their survey techniques

· Experience of writing and providing detailed technical review on a wide range of ecological and technical reports, Natural England Licences, and other deliverables

· Experience of tendering to various sectors and actively growing a client base

· A pro-active approach to learning and knowledge sharing, can think innovatively and be commercially aware

· Communicate effectively and support clients and team members in a clear, concise, professional manor

· Ability to contribute towards discussion and debate in an innovative professional manner and be a team player

· Candidates would preferably be based within Kent, Sussex or Surrey

Qualification, Membership and Licence Requirements

• A Degree and/or a post-graduate qualification in a relevant discipline

• At least 1 Natural England EPS licence/s and/or a technical specialism used within ecological consultancy preferred

• CIEEM membership to appropriate level

• Full Driving licence for UK use and access to a vehicle for work use
