Greene County Public Schools Hiring for Director of Student Services Job at Stanardsville, VA Full Time

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:

The Director of Student Services shall be directly responsible to the Assistant Superintendent;

This position is directly responsible for the leadership and oversight of the school division’s truancy and attendance programs, student discipline, and school safety.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Demonstrated dedication to students and their needs.
• Requires a minimum of a Master’s degree in Administration and Supervision or licensure in Administration and Supervision.
• At least five years or recent successful experience as a classroom teacher and building administrator.
• Knowledge of school safety protocols, crisis management, and effective school culture.
• Demonstrated successful administrative/supervisory work experience and general leadership ability and personal characteristics necessary for working with teachers, administrators, parents, students and the community.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate, present information and respond to questions and concerns from the teachers, administrators and parents.
• Strong organizational, management, communication, and leadership skills.
• Models strong work ethic and high standards for all employees.
• Strong knowledge and understanding of school administration for grades PK-12.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Serves as the primary school division representative in all matters related to student discipline, attendance, and truancy.
• Leads the school division’s discipline committee and makes recommendations to the superintendent on all matters regarding long-term suspensions and expulsions.
• Ensures that the school division is accurately maintaining and reporting disciplinary matters for local, state, and federal reporting.
• Leads the school division’s multi-disciplinary team that addresses students and parents in violation of the code of virginia and school board policies as it relates to compulsory attendance.
• Conducts training and professional development for school staff members in the areas of student behavior, crisis prevention, crisis response, threat assessments, and overall school safety.
• Monitors, responds, and communicates to school administrators all incidents reported through various technology platforms of bullying or school safety matters.
• Serves as the school division liaison for the Greene County Sheriff’s Office, School Resource Officers, Emergency Services, and the Fire Department.
• Conducts all activities related to school safety audits, crisis plans, and crisis prevention drills.
• Collaborates with school and division staff to ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal laws.
• Collaborates with school administration in developing school procedures that impact student behavior, discipline, attendance, and school safety.
• Ensures that the school division’s school board policies relating to attendance and student code of conduct are up to date and accurate.
• Monitors compliance at the school and division level for student discipline and timeliness of attendance improvement plans.
• Serves as the school division’s lead for alternative education for students in grades 7 – 12.
• Oversees the school division’s security protocols to include management of all school cameras, bus cameras, and door locks.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL CONDITIONS:

Frequent walking, stooping, standing, lifting, up to approximately 30 pounds, and occasional lifting of equipment and materials weighing up to approximately 40 pounds may be required. Other limited physical activities are required. Travel to schools throughout the division and central office is required. Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities; the worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions. Regular contact with staff members, school administrators, and members of the community is required.

EVALUATION:

Performance on this job will be evaluated in accordance with school board policy and administrative regulations on evaluation of personnel.

TERMS OF CONTRACT:

12 Month – 250 Days – 8.5 Hours per Day

SALARY

Commensurate with experience

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $60,000.00 – $90,000.00 per year
