Your job

As the Finance Data Analyst you will be responsible for capturing, transforming, loading, analysing and reconciling the detailed claims/premiums/sum insured data.

You will work closely with three teams internally (Reinsurance Accounting, the Data Team and the Solvency II Reporting Team) to follow up on outstanding data, cleanse received data (where appropriate) and ensure all data is loaded, reconciled on time for each reporting cycle within our two key systems (FRSI and DFEnS)

Key Responsibilities:

• Be responsible for the data gathering process for insurance transactional data (claims, premiums and sum insured) received from third party agents
• Control and supervise the monthly loading of insurance transactional data and reconcile to underlying summary system.
• Ensure data is up to date and of good quality for Solvency II reporting requirements
• Maintain data integrity in systems by running queries and analyzing data compared to prior periods for consistency
• Develop and document guidelines and procedures for data gathering, format & transformations needed
• Support standard methodologies for system and process organisational change, documentation of system processes and business practices & the development of standards for processes
• Identify & design process improvements in end to end data journey
• Liaise with Reinsurance Accounting Agency Technicians to identify the causes of and reasons for reconciliation differences and data quality issues. This includes proposing solutions as well as raising such differences and issues when necessary in a timely manner, so they can be resolved
• Develop reports including the results of quality assurance and reconciliation checks and controls for data submitted by each business partner
• Prepare data for loading to the Company/Branch’s data warehouse, including providing assistance to technician colleagues, developing source to target data mapping solutions using advanced Excel and MS Access functionality
• Extract the data from the Company/Branch’s data warehouse and reconcile it with the summary bookings made in the Company’s technical accounting system, and where necessary, to the information provided by the Company/Branch’s business partners.

Your profile

Essential

• Demonstrable data gathering, loading, transforming and reconciling skills
• Knowhow and experience in data requirements gathering
• A good knowledge of problem solving and investigation with unreconciled items.
• Advanced Excel skills (VBA Macros, SUMIF, INDEX/MATCH, Pivots etc. to analyse, reformat & compare large data sets from different sources and prepare simulations of regulatory reporting outcomes.
• Good facilitation, presentation & negotiation skills
• Good overall business analysis skills
• Ability to work cross departments
• Motivated individual who will seek data & control data quality

Desirable

• Experience with finance systems development
• Data process mapping
• Support finance data analysis & critical thinking(analyse, reasoning, evaluating, problem solving, decision making, analysing again)
• Support business modelling & Requirements engineering
• Good understanding of systems development life cycle & relevant iterative agile systems improvements
• Running basic SQL queries a bonus
