Role Purpose
The ER Manager is a key role within the HR Advisory team, responsible for advising and delivering upon ER matters across both our HQ and Analyst populations. The ER Manager ensures employment law is followed at all times and best practice is applied consistently through policy and process.
The role holder will apply their experience and expertise in managing complex ER matters, both formal and informal, with foresight to identify, address and solve problems. They will work independently to manage and coordinate ER matters, under the supervision of the HR Business Partner.
Responsibilities include:
Responsible for the coordination and management of the majority of ER matters, both informally and formally.
Managing performance improvement practices and liaising with key stakeholders to agree the best course of action.
Monitoring and management of absence and supporting individuals within work and back into work, as required.
Assessing the requirements of occupational health and workplace needs assessment referrals. Reviewing assessments and advising on reasonable adjustments when required.
Managing and supporting disciplinary and grievance procedures, including investigations and appeals.
Building trusted relationships with key stakeholders and providing advice and guidance on ER matters as necessary.

About you
We are seeking a personable, confident individual who is unafraid to apply their ER experience and put their suggestions and ideas forward to stakeholders of all levels. The successful applicant will be experienced in solving complex ER matters in a range of areas, including but not limited to, absence management, disciplinary, grievance and performance management.
Whilst this position will not have direct line management responsibility, the role will be responsible for complex ER case management. They will have a strong ability to forge professional relationships with key stakeholders and work with integrity, adopting an open and honest approach to work matters.

Must Have’s
Outstanding knowledge and experience of applying and advising on employment law and best practice.
Demonstrable experience of solving complex ER matters.
Strong and effective communication skills.
Confidence in making and maintaining decisions as well as voicing when they don’t agree with the majority.
Comfortable with and experienced in handling difficult conversations.
Level 5+ CIPD qualified.
Nice to have’s
Educated to degree level or equivalent, ideal but not mandatory.
Previous experience of working at manager level.
