Grand River Foods Hiring for Maintenance Technician DAYS 5am to 130pm Monday to Friday at Waterloo, ON Full Time

We currently have an opening at our Waterloo facility located at 35 Northland Road for a Maintenance Technician on the DAY shift working 5am to 1:30pm Monday to Friday.

Maintenance Technicians perform routine preventative and predictive maintenance and repair procedures on company buildings, mechanical equipment and utility systems as determined by their supervisor. Works in conjunction with other Maintenance Team Members to successfully resolve daily manufacturing issues in a timely and cost effective and safe manner. Some maintenance workers receive training and certification in the safe operation of electric walkies, and skyjack as well as fall arrest and lock out training.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Performs minor and major repairs to the building and equipment
• Performs preventative maintenance procedures on mechanical equipment on a scheduled bases (inspects belts, checks fluid levels, greases bearings, seals, etc.)
• Repairs or replaces broken parts, to ensure minimal unplanned downtime in assigned areas
• Calibrates and repairs pneumatic, hydraulic, servo-hydraulic and mechanical equipment as well as pumps, transmissions, conveyors, packaging equipment, etc.
• Completes daily, weekly and monthly checklists
• May install, replace or repair electrical wiring and equipment as needed
• Performs pipefitting work on low pressure systems according to good pipefitting practice
• Performs sheet metal and other shop fabrication work as required
• Performs millwright work as required
• Repairs refrigeration and heating equipment
• Maintains records of scheduled maintenance procedures
• Troubleshoots equipment problems and repairs them efficiently and with minimal supervision
• Performs other work, including general housekeeping and shop cleaning as assigned by supervisor
• Completes all assigned work orders in an efficient manner
• Identifies PM requirements for assigned areas with assistance of Maintenance Team
• Arrange for parts to be ordered and on-hand as required with help from supervisor
• Identifies impending problems and advises supervision

Qualifications

• Graduate of a certified trade school program
• 2-5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment performing skilled maintenance work with recognized apprenticeship skills; or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience. Millwright or Red Seal Electricians
