About the role:

You will deliver a sector-leading, end-to-end, fair and inclusive talent acquisition service to meet the

needs of the firm’s legal and business services teams. You will lead on strategically and

commercially-sound advice and solutions across workforce planning and talent acquisition, which

enhances the profitability and reputation of the Firm. You will be able to evaluate and identify key

changes in resourcing and recruitment practice that improve cost-efficiency and challenge the sector.

Through leadership of your team, you will deliver excellent client service and high-calibre talent at

all levels that adds demonstrable value to the Firm.

Your Duties and Responsibilities:

• Lead, coach and develop the Talent Acquisition and Early Talent team.
• Design and deliver a best-fit talent acquisition strategy to meet the demands of the business, for our UK and international offices.
• Challenge and continually improve the talent acquisition processes and initiatives across the Firm, attracting and engaging highly committed and talented candidates.
• Champion diversity, equality and inclusion in all talent acquisition processes.
• Monitor and review attraction, selection and assessment methods, exploring innovative and best-in-class approaches and ensuring relevant people are trained
• As lead for recruitment technology and systems, manage existing platforms and processes (including the careers website) to optimise performance, including measuring and analysing ROI of our available tools and the make-up of the tools we invest in.
• Lead on flexible workforce options and internal secondments to maximise profitability and resourcing requirements.
• Reduce recruitment costs through building direct sourcing capability and an innovative digital strategy
• In conjunction with the wider HR team, develop and implement the employee value proposition in line with the firm’s values, and to raise brand awareness and deliver additional direct candidate pipelines.
• Interpret, analyse and report recruitment MI to monitor team performance and identify ongoing effective improvements, identifying improvements to support business objectives.
• Develop exceptionally strong relationships with senior stakeholders, with the ability to influence and challenge thoughts and ways of doing things around talent acquisition, as well as advising on Talent Acquisition strategies and competitor activity in the legal services arena.
• Alongside the Resourcing Manager, responsible for overseeing the lateral partner hire end to end recruitment process to ensure first class recruitment, on boarding and induction experience in the UK and International offices.
• Alongside the wider HR team, develop an alumni proposition and work with our Internal Communications team to engage this community as a potential talent pool, and identify other sources of experienced talent we should explore.
• Identify, grow and maintain key third party relationships, identifying new contacts and maintaining a positive impression of Gowling WLG in the market.
• Work with business leaders and the HR team on skills development for the future, identifying the key skills our people need and building this into our attraction and selection proposition.
• Provide insight and ideas to maximise online advertising, and actively manage and promote social media platforms to identify and approach passive talent and build networks of potential opportunities.
• Build a strong network with Talent Acquisition teams in other firms and industries.
• Fully engage with and lead on project work across the wider HR team, inputting to system and process reviews and enhancements, employer branding and other ad-hoc initiatives.
• Work closely with the wider HR leadership team to identify cohesive HR practices, challenge ways of working and come up with new ideas.
• Take part in wider activities such as Early Talent assessment days and HR initiatives where required.

About you:

The successful candidate will have experience of working in Recruitment, preferably within professional services and be used to working with and influencing senior stakeholders. They will have an extensive track record of developing effective recruitment strategies that deliver results in a cost-effective manner.

If you are right for us, you will have an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the professional services market place and be able to identify, across a complex matrix organisation, advanced attraction strategies to meet requirements. You will have a proven track record of delivering legal/professional services recruits through direct sourcing methods, and operate comfortably within those networks. You will also be effective in your approach to candidates and agencies, understanding the latest attraction methodology and using key metrics to measure success.

You will understand the return on investment of attraction strategies and look to reduce the key spend where possible. You will have a good grasp of financial management, budgets, KPI’s and the ability to demonstrate added value.
