The Human Resource Service Centre (HRSC) provides human resource benefits and payroll administration services to government and acts as the central contact point for all employee general HR-related inquiries.
The Opportunity:
ing to the Team Lead of Client Records, the Client Support Technician will be responsible for supporting, documenting, and problem solving a variety of hardware and software issues, as well as working with third party service providers. This position requires proven team building skills to establish positive working relationships without formal designated authority with various team members throughout the HRSC. You will be able to communicate technical information in an accessible way to non-technical audiences. Other duties include maintaining the HRSC’s hardware inventory, software and workstation configuration as well as general Client Records support.
As a Client Support Technician, your duties will include:
Communicating electronically and in person with computer users experiencing difficulties to determine and document problems experienced.
Identifying and resolving end user hardware, software and communication problems, place service calls or purchase hardware and software.
Identifying and resolving video conferencing and digital recording problems.
Consulting user guides, technical manuals and other documents to research and implement solutions.
Collecting, organizing and maintaining a problems and solutions log for use by other technical support analysts.
Maintaining the division’s inventory database for tracking hardware, software and workstation configurations

We are looking for someone who can demonstrate the following:
The ability to orally explain or present (technical) information to a wide variety of technical and non-technical individuals and/or groups in a clear, accurate and understandable manner.
Knowledge of current desktop and network operating systems as well as current commercial software applications used in a networked environment.
The ability to actively listen, paraphrase and ask precise questions in order to clarify and understand information being received.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Demonstrated technical and problem solving skills.
Good organizational skills to coordinate work to meet the needs of the client.
Typically, the knowledge and experience required to achieve the above is obtained through a two-year Technical Diploma. Demonstrated experience in performing Tier 1 support; identifying and resolving hardware, software and communication problems for end users, testing and evaluating hardware. An equivalent combination of education and work experience will be considered.
