Business Support Services Branch is seeking a highly-motivated, results-oriented individual to fill a key position as a Senior Business Analyst. In this role, you will work within a dynamic team environment to facilitate business analysis activities and develop associated products for a variety of technology-related projects and initiatives. You will excel at undertaking research and business needs analysis to find solutions to problems encountered by clients.

As a Senior Business Analyst, you will:
Lead joint technology planning sessions with ministry staff and other ministries to analyze current and future business needs and requirements;

Assist business units in the preparation of business cases and IT proposals by facilitating planning sessions;

Perform proactive and in-depth research and analysis of complex issues to provide the “best fit for future” business solution concepts and designs;

Develop comprehensive business requirements and recommendations to meet the needs of business clients;

Develop IT and business processes to align with new or enhanced services and programs;

Establish quality standards to ensure consistency and make recommendations for changes and improvements;

Develop organizational change management materials and user guidance documents to ensure business clients successfully adopt and implement the technology or process;

Represent the ministry on inter-ministerial IT projects to share information and identify opportunities for new or enhanced IT systems, applications or software.

The successful candidate will need:
A comprehensive understanding of project management, organizational change management and continuous improvement principles;

Extensive experience and knowledge of business case development, requirements gathering/analysis, business analysis and business process improvement tools and processes, data quality management and testing methodologies;

Knowledge of system design/standards and database concepts/principles to communicate technical business information to end users, programming/configuration analysts and other IT personnel;

Exceptional critical thinking skills to investigate, analyze, evaluate and resolve complex issues or evaluate new features to meet existing or new business program needs;

The ability to consult, facilitate and communicate effectively with a variety of technical colleagues and non-technical clients to understand their business line and to assess impacts of business solutions;

The ability to build and maintain relationships with colleagues, team members, business clients and service providers; and

An understanding of the ministry’s IT systems, programs and associated legislation.

Typically, the knowledge for this position would be attained through a degree in business administration, computer science, or equivalent education and experience. Experience and knowledge related to Microsoft Dynamics and SharePoint would be an asset.
