The Ministry of Trade and Export Development fosters and supports a competitive business environment, facilitates trade and strengthens Saskatchewan’s international relations to attract investment and grow export markets.

The Strategic Policy and Planning Branch is seeking an innovative, results-oriented individual to join our team as a Business Analyst. Reporting to the Manager of Economic Research and Analytics, you will play a key role in enhancing the ministry by researching, developing, and implementing business projects to improve the functionality and accessibility of economic data.

You will use innovative tools (e.g., dashboards, geo-spatial tools) and intelligent software (e.g., power bi, VBA) to enhance data analysis and reporting for investment attraction and to support Ministry decision-making. You will identify and utilize reliable data sources to communicate economic information. Your work will support information sharing across divisions, ministries and agencies. You will work closely with clients to maintain and enhance a variety of systems applications, and with stakeholders from other ministries to ensure the Ministry is aligned with enterprise best practices.

As the successful candidate, you will have knowledge of IT applications including but not limited to databases, survey and analytic tools, and mapping as well as project management and system design methodologies. You will have the ability to consult and communicate effectively with a variety of non-technical audiences to gather requirements for various projects. You will excel at undertaking research and business needs analysis to find solutions and communicate recommendations to leadership. Strong written and oral communication skills are also essential.

Our ideal team member will have strong leadership skills and ability to develop relationships and work closely with colleagues across government. Typically, the knowledge for this position would be attained through completion of a recognized university degree in Business Administration, Commerce, or Computer Science. A certificate in business analysis or project management would be beneficial. An equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered.
