Job Description
Role: HR Advisor (once joining the title of the role will be ER Advisor)
Location: This is an onsite role at our Spalding site on Marsh Road PE12 6HA (we will support a degree of hybrid working where possible). There would also be expectations at times to support across our 4 shifts (including nights) when required.
Shift pattern: We can explore flexible working patterns that would fit both business and your personal needs. Possible working patterns could be; 8am-5pm with regular flex to support nights (twilight or early hours), 4 on 4 off shift pattern, or 6am – 3pm and 3pm – 11pm working)
We have a really exciting opportunity for a HR/ER Advisor to join our People team at our Spalding site.
This role will work in our Operational fulfilment centres to provide our managers with day to day ER support. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring timely and consistent ER advice and coaching to build capability, where required.
The ER Advisor will support the People Partners with broader ad hoc projects, which could entail supporting organisational changes, contract variations and employee engagement; the ER Advisor will help ensure our approach remains compliant with employment law and is aligned with best practice change management.
Core Responsibilities:
Policy
Deliver coaching and training of policies and procedures amongst our line management population, to enable them to ‘self-serve’ when people issues arise.
Input into research and work across the wider People Team to develop new policies or development of current policies.
Ensure line managers are operating within the framework of our policies, provide challenge and support to build consistency in our people practices and act as the gatekeeper to ensure fairness in our decisions.
Ensure our contract provisions (e.g. shift patterns, time & attendance) align and are fit for the future
Stakeholder engagement
Develop credible relationships with key stakeholders to ensure ER activities are dealt with in a timely manner.
Track, monitor and report attendance levels, highlighting key themes that may require specific focus or action. You will support all attendance processes with line managers to improve attendance at work, raise awareness of our benefits and wellbeing offerings that may support / prevent situations arising and escalate referrals to our Occupational Health partner.
Recommend and implement process improvements.
Employee Relations
Ensure the effective case management of live ER cases (support managers with grievances, investigations, disciplinaries, absence cases), through the provision of strong practical and commercial advice
Build and develop a culture of ER ownership through our line managers and front line managers.
Qualifications
Good level of knowledge and application of employment law and best practice, with a focus on continuous learning to ensure up-to-date knowledge is maintained
Able to convey complex information in a clear and pragmatic manner
An extremely effective communicator, strong influencing skills
Is able to support and guide stakeholders to ensure fair and consistent outcomes
Builds credible and trusted relationships
Experience in ER case management
Experienced in using HR systems and working with data to identify insights that drive action
Tenacious, someone who is a self starter and motivated to ensure we continue to provide a great employee experience
