GoRoadie is an award-winning technology startup, looking for an ambitious Software Engineer to help create products for the driver training market. In this role, you will work with the founding team members in a remote position, but ideally based in Scotland.

The role
In this role, you will work with the founding team members in a remote position. The team is dedicated to using modern development practices to rapidly experiment, iterate and deliver end-to-end solutions to their customers in a matter of hours and days. You must be passionate about product and delivering results for customers.

Responsibilities for this role include building features for 1,000s of customers on the existing GoRoadie platform. This means you will be building out the mobile app (GoRoadie Pro), the instructor-finder service (GoRoadie.com) and our other products aimed to improve lives of driving instructors.

You will work at all levels in the stack from NativeScript/Angular, AWS, Ruby on Rails, TypeScript and SQL and HTML to build and maintain end to end products on the GoRoadie platform.

You will partner with our Chief Product Officer and Lead Software Architect to understand the needs of potential users and build a product that improves their lives.
What you will do

• Take responsibility for building, shipping, and maintaining core GoRoadie Pro and GoRoadie.com features end to end, for maximum customer and business impact
• Work at all levels of the technology stack. Work with Node.JS, Typescript, Ruby on Rails, MySQL and AWS.
• Work with the core team to build features in hours and day, to a high level of quality that ultimately improves the lives of our customers.
• You will be responsible for learning and demonstrating mobile and web application best practices and ensuring high standards in performance, stability and architecture.
• As part of a startup, you will wear multiple hats and be involved in more than software engineering. You will receive ownership of tasks and features from idea generation, business requirements and technical design through to software development using the latest technologies and design patterns.

• To be a software engineering generalist with at least two years of industry experience who is willing to learn new technologies and apply them in a fast changing environment
• You have experience in developing web apps or mobile apps and understand the full agile/lean development life-cycle.
• To be a person that is keen to continue learning and to keep growing. You will accept critique and will seek out challenges as a way to grow. In doing so, you will have the full support of the founders of the business.
• You have experience with databases, full-stack development, TypeScript, Angular, unit tests, UI testing and core software engineering practices.
